Sugared Cherry Baby Blanket

The Sugared Cherry Baby Blanket in the picture is made with Caron Lovely Layers Cakes yarn in Sugared Cherry (hence the name 🙂 ). I bought this yarn at Michaels on clearance, so I’m not sure if they are still making this colorway. I love that it’s self striping so I didn’t have to switch colors or sew in a bunch of ends. It was very easy and soothing blanket to make. The main stitch is of this blanket is the Suzette Stitch which is a single crochet and double crochet in the same stitch, then skip 1 stitch and repeat.

BLANKET PATTERN

Ch. 111 (or any even number +1)

Row 1 – Sc in each st across. Ch. 1, turn. (110 sts, each row will have 110 sts.)

Row 2 – Skip the first stitch. Put 1 sc and 1 dc in the next stitch. *Skip a stich, then sc and dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row, ending with a sc and a dc in the last stitch, Ch. 1, turn.

Row 3 – Repeat row 2 until you reach the desired length of the blanket. (For this blanket I did 94 rows.)

BORDER

The border is 2 rounds of single crochet. When you reach the end of the blanket pattern, ch. 1 and turn to start the border.

Round 1: Sc in each stitch across, place 3 stitches in each corner. Slp st to the first stitch, ch 1 (do not turn). (In the final corner, you may need to put only 2 sc before the slp stitch to the first stitch depending on where the 1st stitch of the round was placed. Play with it and see which one looks better, 3 or 2 stitches in that final corner).

Round 2: Repeat round 1. Fasten off.

Weave in your ends and enjoy :).
