The Addison Blanket is a lovely crochet blanket with a wonderful mixture of smooth and textured stitches. This pattern is written for #3 sport yarn using a 4mm crochet hook. It’s also written in baby blanket size, but it can be easily adjusted if you would like a throw sized or larger blanket. If you’re using a different size yarn, adjust the hook size according to the yarn and follow the instructions to create a blanket for your desired length and width.

PATTERN NOTES
There are no turning chains unless specifically stated. The chain does not count as a stitch.
The pattern contains both hhdc and hdc; please pay close attention to which one should be used. The first h in the hhdc is bold to further emphasize when to use this stitch.
The section 1 repeat is 8 rows and the section 2 repeat is 14 rows.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Herringbone Half Double Crochet
YO, insert your hook, grab the yarn, and pull up a loop (3 loops on the hook)
Pull the 1st loop thru the 2nd loop (2 loops on the hook)
YO, pull thru both loops
Half Double Crochet Third Loop Only

Skip 1 st, hdc in next st, hdc in skipped st.
BLANKET PATTERN
Ch. 138 (or any even number), turn.
Row 1: Starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, hhdc in each st across, turn. (137)
Rows 2 thru 12: Hhdc in each st across, turn. (137)
Row 13: Hhdc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (137)
Row 14: Hdc in each st across, place 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1, turn, change to color B. (138)
Row 15 (start of section 1 repeat): With color B, skip the 1st st, hdc tlo in the 2nd st and each st across, place 2 hdc in last st, ch 1, turn. (138).
Row 16: *Hdc in 1st st, slp st in the next st,* repeat from * to * in each st across (last st should be a slp st). Ch 1, turn. (138)
Row 17: Repeat row 16.
Row 18: Hdc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (138)
Row 19: Hdc in the first st, crossed double crochet until the 2nd to last st, hdc in last st, ch 1, turn. (138)
Row 20-21: Repeat Row 16.
Row 22: Hdc in each st across, turn (no chain), change to color A. (138)
Row 23 (start of section 2 repeat): With color A, sk the 1st st, hhdc tlo in the 2nd st and in each st across. (137)
Row 24 thru 35: Hhdc in each st across, turn. (137)
Row 36: Hdc in each st across, 2 hdc in the last st, ch 1, turn. (138)
Row 37 until the end: Repeat section 1 (4 times) and section 2 (4 times), or until desired length, ending in section 2.
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
BORDER PATTERN
Rounds 1-4: With color B, sc in each st around, put 3 sc in the corners, ch 1.
Round 5: *Dc in the first st, slp st in the next st* repeat from * to * ending in a slp st. Place 3 hdc in each corner st.
