The Aria blanket is a gorgeous blanket with lots of texture and is easy to make. The blanket in the picture is made of 4 skeins of Bernat Softee Cotton Yarn in Feather Gray and approx 1.25 skeins in Cotton. Although this is a #3 light weight yarn, the pattern can be easily adjusted to whatever yarn and/or size you choose.

BLANKET PATTERN
With color A and 4 mm hook, chain 142 (or a multiple of 4 then add 2 to that number)
Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each st across, turn. (141 sts, each row should have 141 sts.)
Row 2: Sc in the 1st st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st, *sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then sc in the last st. Ch 2, turn. (Ch 2 counts as 1st st of row 3.)
Row 3: Hdc in the same st as the ch 2, sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, *sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st, sk 1 st, slip st in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then 2 hdc in the last st, turn.
Rows 4 – 12: Repeat rows 2 and 3 with repeat ending on row 2. Turn. (Repeat row 2 six times and row 3 five times.) Note: Omit the chain 2 on the final repeat of row 2 (going into row 13).
Row 13: Change to color B. Using 5 mm hook, sc in the 1st st, sc blo in the next 3 sts, *hdc blo in the next st, sc blo in the next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * until you have 1 st left. Sc in the last st and turn. (Note: The sc should be in the 3 hdc of the previous row and the hdc should be in the slip st of the previous row.)
Row 14: With 4mm hook, hdc in the 1st st. *Sk 1 st, hdc in the next st, hdc in skipped st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Hdc in last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 15: Change to color A. With 5mm hook, sc in 1st, slp st in each st across. Sc in the last st, and turn.
Row 16: With 4mm hook, sc blo in the 1st st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc blo in the next st, *sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc blo in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then sc in the last st. Ch 2, turn.
Row 17: Hdc in the same st as the ch 2, sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, *sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st, sk 1 st, slip st in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then 2 hdc in the last st, turn.
Rows 18: Sc in the 1st st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st, *sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then sc in the last st. Ch 2, turn.
Rows 19: Hdc in the same st as the ch 2, sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, *sk 1 st, 3 hdc in the next st, sk 1 st, slip st in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you have 2 sts left. Sk 1 st, then 2 hdc in the last st, turn.
Rows 20 – 26: Repeat rows 18 thru 19 ending repeat on row 18.
Row 27 – end: Repeat rows 13 thru 26 until you’ve reached your desired length.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
BORDER
Rounds 1 and 2: With color A, starting in any st, sc in each st around, placing 3 sc in the corner sts, slip st into 1st st, ch 1.
Round 3: With color B, sc in each st around, placing 3 sc in the corner sts, slip st into 1st st, ch 1.
Round 4: Continuing with color B, sc blo in each st around, placing 3 sc in the corner sts, slip st into 1st st, ch 1.
Round 5: Shell stitch all around making the shells as even as possible. (Shell stitch = *5 dc in 1 st, sk 1 st, slp st in the next st, sk 1,* repeat from * to *) Slip st to the 1st, ch 1.
Round 6: Sc in the same st as ch 1, *slip st in the next st (which is the 1st st of the shell), ch1, sc in the next st, ch 1, sc in the next st, ch 1, sc in the next st, ch 1, then sc in the last st of the shell, slip st in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. Slip st to the first sc.
Fasten off, weave in remaining ends, and enjoy :).
