The Pastela Baby Blanket started off as a scrap blanket to use up some yarn I had leftover from other projects, but it has actually turned out to be one of my favorites. It’s made with Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn in Antique White, Pastel Green, Pastel Blue. Because of the number color changes, I highly recommend sewing in your ends as you go.

Ch. 109 (or any even number +1)
Row 1 – Sc in each st across, ch 1 turn (108 sts).
Row 2 – *Sk 1 st, sc and dc in the next stitch,* repeat from * to * until the end of the row ending with a sc and dc in the last stitch of the row (108 sts).
Rows 3 and beyond – Repeat row 2 until you reach your desired length. Change colors every 2 rows beginning in row 4.
BORDER
Round 1 – In the color of your choice, sc in each stitch around. Place 3 sc in the corners (optional: mark the center of the 3 sts with a stitch marker). Slp st to the 1st sc to end the round. Ch 1 to begin round 2. (Along the length, use your judgement to determine where to put the sc so that there are not too few or too many. As a general guideline, I put 2 sc for each color along the length of the blanket).
Round 2 – Hhdc in each stitch around. Place 3 hhdc in the corners (place them in the center stitch of the 3 sc from the previous round). Slp st to the 1st st of the round.
Fasten off, weave in your ends, and enjoy!
