It’s been a while since I made a ripple blanket, but recently I’ve been seeing a lot of them lately on Pinterest and Instagram and decided it’s time to make another one :). For the pattern, I used the Neat Ripple Pattern by Attic24. I used Bamboo Fair yarn from Premier Yarns which is a light #3 weight yarn. The label recommends a 4mm hook, but I decided to go with a 2.75mm hook. I started with a 3.25mm hook but felt the gaps between the stitches were too large, so I frogged it and started again with a smaller hook. It seems like it took forever to make using such a small hook, but I love the way it turned out.
The colors used are Rose, Blush, and Alabaster. The starting chain is 157 (multiple 14 + 3). I made 4 rows of each color, and every other row was in the back loop only. The first round of the border is mainly single crochet (sc), with a mixture of single, half double, and double crochet on the top and bottom sides to even out the ripples. The second round is also sc, the third round is half double crochet, then I ended with a final round of [slip stitch, ch1] in each stitch in the Rose color. For rounds 1 thru 3, I put 3 stitches in the corner stitches. The final round was the same in each stitch around including the corners. The final size is 30″ wide x 35″ long.
Update:
Here’s another blanket I made in blue and white. This one was made using Paintbox (Blues) and Lion Brand Baby Soft (White). The starting chain is 143 (multiple of 14 +3). I changed color every 2 rows; the first row of every color change is worked in the back loop only. The final row (after the last row of ripples) was to even them out to prepare for the border. The border is single crochet all around (3 sc in the corners); there are 2 rounds of dark blue, 2 rounds of light blue, and 1 round of white. The final size was 32″ L x 33.5″ W.
